Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

As I have said before, this is a pretty nifty recording software. I use this and it works great for what it does.

Ap Tuner http://www.aptuner.com/cgi-bin/aptuner/apmain.html

Pretty good guitar tuner software you can use through your computers mic if you don't have a real one. I have used this for years and it works pretty good. You play a note and tells ya how + or - you are from the key.

I just busted out my acoustic and used it. Love it.

Any other recommended or good software out there I or we should know about?

As I also said, I really liked Audiocity, and will use it for my covering projects after my tests.

Also, thanks for Ap Tuner. I didn't know this one before and I usually just tuned my guitar by the ear with a devise that makes the right sound. By its description it sounds like I can tune a violin with it as well, which is just what I need :)

Another software that I think I remember someone put here already as well is the Tux Guitar, which enables you reading the GuitarPro tabs and other kidns of tabs you find online.. The link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/tuxguitar/

If any of you are familiar with a good and easy to use video editor software [which is not the Windows Movie Maker] or a tab writer software, I'd very much appreciate it :)

Glad you liked the Ap tuner. Try it yet? hehe

I have never heard of this tuxguitar but from the official tux guitar website, it looks awesome. Not sure what I'll do with it but I'll check it out regardless. thanks

As far as video editor software, I have no clue.

Downloaded it, but it'll take a while till I play again due to 2 upcoming tests. I'm sure I'll enjoy it though, so don't worry :)

About the Tux - I was sure I've seen it here, but probably I somehow found it elsewhere. For some reason Guitar Pro always gave me problems but with this software I don't need to fight over tabs, and you don't need to buy it to open different types of tab files, which is always good.

I've been trying to get Audacity to record, but there are delays on the recorded tracks and the tracks are not in sync. We have a HP Pavillion computer with a Windows 7. I've tried all the troubleshoot hints I could find but so far no improvement. I'll have to give the program another shot when I have more free time. :)

About Audacity - If you want to save your recorded file as *.mp3 and not *.wav, you need to download and install a LAME MP3 encoding driver from here, and drag it [the *.dll file from the zip you downloaded] to: C:/WINDOWS/system.
